Organic farming as a winning business: a successful event for the future of organic farming in Maremma
The event was held with great interest and participation 'Organic farming as a winning business'organised by the Pia Hills Bio-District in collaboration with the Confederazione Italiana Agricoltori (CIA) of Grosseto. The meeting, made possible thanks to the support of Far Maremma, took place on 17 February at the CIA training room in Grosseto, and provided an important opportunity to discuss the opportunities and challenges of the organic sector in the Maremma.

After the success of the Bio Conference last Decemberthe event drew attention to a crucial aspect of organic farming: its economic sustainability. The Bio-District President Adriano Baiguini emphasised the importance of creating a favourable ecosystem for the growth of the sector:
"The Maremma has a natural vocation for organic farming, but for this choice to be economically sustainable, it is necessary to focus on support policies, technological innovation and effective marketing strategies. This event, organised with CIA Grosseto, is an important step to provide farmers with concrete tools to face the market more competitively."
Reinforcing this view was Claudio Capecchi, President of CIA Grossetowho emphasised that organic represents anatural evolution of Maremma agriculturebut that it must be supported by a market system capable of ensuring a fair remuneration to farmers:
"Doing organic farming today is a complex challenge: high costs, stringent regulations and climate change impose extraordinary demands on companies. It is crucial that the value of organic translates into fair remuneration for those who produce, so that this sector can truly be a winning business."

According to Enrico Rabazzi, Director CIA Grosseto, the competitiveness of organic farms depends on a combination of factors:
'In recent years, the differential between organic and conventional has narrowed, making it more difficult for organic companies to remain competitive. The challenge of the future lies in innovation, marketing and land valorisation. Tools such as artificial intelligence, experiential tourism and the promotion of organic districts must converge in a national strategy to make organic a competitive asset."
